Outdoor Electric Grills

Outdoor Electric Grills and accessories.

Welcome to our site - Outdoor Electric Grills. We hope you will enjoy your stay and find the information you need to pick out the right grill for you.

People who live in apartments and condo dwellers or those who live in communities where they have banned gas or charcoal grills, can still get the taste and feeling of barbecue. You see, outdoor electric grills offer sizzle and great taste without a lot of fuss. There is no need for huge bags of charcoal or any large propane tanks to bring home and no gas leaks that needs repair. Simply plug in the grill, heat up for 10 to 15 minutes, and you are ready to cook away.

But how well can outdoor electric grills cook? We took a couple of well known brands for a test.

The Weber Q-140 is a basic portable indoor and outdoor electric grill—it has no shelves or warming rack. The cooking size is good, it can fit up to 12 hamburgers. There is only a single control knob so it is very easy to adjust. It delivers very good cooking performance and is actually very easy to use and clean. Both the chicken and hamburgers were juicy and perfectly browned and very importantly, they were evenly cooked. We didn’t have any problems with flare-ups, not even when we cooked steaks, which is a normal problem when cooking fatty foods on a lot of gas and charcoal grills.

It does take a little longer to cook on an outdoor electric grill compared to most gas or charcoal grills. You should figure about 10 to 15 minutes longer when cooking a chicken, but since you are saving at least 20 minutes in pre-heating the grill compared to a charcoal grill, it is not that bad at all.

The other indoor and outdoor electric grill we have tried is the George Foreman GGR50B. It is only about half the prices as the Weber Q-140 and is actually pretty good.

Like the Weber the whole surface heats up very quickly and you’ll actually be ready to cook in just a few minutes after you turn the switch.
The George Foreman outdoor electric grill also come with a stand where the Weber grill is a table top unit.
The grill surface on both grills is relatively easy to clean. As we all know, grease is never easy to clean, but the plate can be taken out and be cleaned over the sink.
Since the George Foreman grill comes with a stand, it does need some assembling, but that is not very difficult.

We found that both grills is able to cook evenly and with tasty grill stripes, although we would put the Weber grill slightly ahead with regards to the end result.

Obviously the main downside to all outdoor electric grills is that they are not a charcoal grill. A traditional grill cook the food through the coal’s heat and therefore you will get the taste of charcoal. But for many people a charcoal grill is not an option, and others don’t even like the taste of charcoal, so here are two really good alternatives to a nice, non charcoal, barbecue flavor.

So which one of the two tested models do we reccomend? Well, if your budget is tight, you can’t go wrong with the George Foreman Grill, but otherwise we would buy the Weber Q-140.

Have fun sizzling.
